The House League. For the first time, we will be offering a Fall house lacrosse league. The WYL House League is for Kindergarten – 3rd Grade. We strive to make the House League FUN, get used to wearing the gear and start to get the hang of the game.
Weather permitting, the season begins on September 27th. League meeting, and gear handout at Skillings. We will be SELLING gear this Fall. Full beginner sets for $50. We do not sell sticks (which can be purchased online or at Lacrosse Unlimited in Burlington).
House League players are divided into two, grade-based divisions: The Kindergarten-1st Grade Division and the 2nd-3rd Grade Division. We will also seperate by numbers to comply with local and state COVID guidelines.
Within each division, we will create teams for “Game Days” (which will be Sunday AM at Manchester). Our first Game Day will be October 4th.
Everyone will practice at 5:30PM on Friday afternoon/evenings at Skillings Turf. Practices will be for 75 minutes. The first practice will be on October 2nd. The last practice will be on November 6th.
We will, of course, comply with all COVID rules. This means that our "Games" will not look very much like a real lax game. We will blow plays dead to avoid scrums. We will not allow faceoffs. And we will take other precautions.
2020 FALL BALL - WYL FALL SKILLS AND DRILLS PROGRAM
We are excited to continue to accomplish our goal of developing home-grown high school caliber lacrosse talent with Winchester Lacrosse's Fall Ball program. The Fall Ball program will consist of 2 skills practices per week for each age group.
What you will need: Everyone needs a stick, helmet, gloves, arm pads, shoulder pads, cleats and cup
Also, everyone must be a member of US Lacrosse for insurance reasons.
If your son is not playing extra lacrosse (through a Club or elsewhere), this program is intended to push their lax skills forward in preparation for the Winter/Spring. If your son is playing lacrosse with a Club, this program is likely still doable because of the times and locations.
Program will run from September 21st - November 5th.
4 grade-based groups:
Group 1 (4th/5th Grade)
Group 2 (7th/8th Grade)
6th Grade - You can pick one, but not both, for your son. We strongly suggest that only the more experienced 6th graders play with the 7th and 8th graders.
All practices will be at Ambrose Field, when it gets to dark to play outside practices will be moved to a turf field in town.
All practices will be 4:00PM-5:15PM. Players are expected to be ready sharply at 4PM.
Monday & Wednesday: 7th-8th (and select 6th)
Tuesday & Thursday: 4th-5th (and select 6th)
All players may attend one or both practices (for your applicable age group)
NOTE- IF YOU HAVE A CREDIT FROM US, PLEASE WAIT TO REGISTER UNTIL WEDNESDAY. WE WILL ADDRESS IN THE SYSTEM BETWEEN NOW AND WEDNESDAY.
