SPRING REGISTRATION 2021

Lacrosse is back.  WYL is thrilled to bring back Spring lacrosse to Winchester.  Our season will start in late March/early April.  Of course, weather often affects us.  WYL will post our Spring practice and game schedule on our website in the next couple weeks.  WYL will also update the league and town rules page.

In general:

  • For insurance reasons, all players MUST be a US Lacrosse member.  Our site will help you track down your number, renew or register.
  • Kindergarten-2nd Grade can expect to practice Friday evenings, with games on Saturday afternoon (no conflict with Sandlot).
  • 3rd-4th Grade can expect to practice twice per week, with games on Sundays against regional TPL opponents.
  • 5th-6th will practice twice per week, with games on Sundays against TPL opponents.  5th grade games will be regional, 6th grade games will be division based.
  • 7th-8th will practice twice per week at 6:30PM on turf, with games on Sundays against TPL opponents.  Games will be division based.
  • All TPL grades (3-8th) will end the season with a playoff or jamboree for the littlier guys.
  • 5-8th grade teams will have tournament opportunities.
  • Any player that plays goalie will get a full refund of our tuition.
  • If you would like tuition assistance, please contact me at winchesterlax@gmail.com.
  • Much more to follow.  Pray for a warm Spring.
2021 Spring WYL House League (K - 2) - The Young Buck Division

The House League.  The WYL House League is for players from Kindergarten – 2nd Grade.  This is our biggest group of lacrosse players each Spring.  We strive to make the House League FUN.  The House League is also the only program we open to girls and boys - but we will be coaching and teaching "boys lacrosse".

The goal is to have fun, get the kids to start to like and learn the game of lacrosse, and improve as a player.

  • Weather permitting, the season begins the week of April 5th.
  • House League players are divided into three, grade-based divisions: The Kindergarten Division, the 1st Grade Division & the 2nd Grade Division.
  • Within each grade, teams (that are as evenly weighted as possible) are established for “Game Day” (which will be Sundays).  Our first Game Day will be the Sunday just before everyone goes "back to school" after April VK (April 25h).
  • Grades practice together as an entire grade (so-called “gang practices”) once each week, with common instruction across the Grade from parent coaches. Practices will be for 1-hour during the school week (Mon-Fri; 5 or 5:30) on a field location and day TBD.
  • During practices, players may be periodically separated based on skill level to allow for newer players to develop basic skills, while allowing more experienced players to advance their skill and game skills.
  • Exact times for practices and games will be established during the Winter (but as soon as possible).  However, we expect to practice Friday evenings at Skillings.
  • We are also entering our 2nd graders in a couple local jamborees - games against other towns.
  • The cost of the program is unchanged from 2019 and 2020.
